ID•ON is a small but happening mobile accessories company based in southern California. The company was founded on one goal – to create stylish mobile phone cases and accessories, using premium materials while offering them to the marketplace at an affordable price. Understanding that today’s consumers demand both style and protection for their devices, ID•ON spares no attention to detail in the production of their cases, ensuring that the quality keeps your devices safe, while maintaining the cutting-edge designs that they’ve become know for.
Website architecture is an approach to the design and planning of websites that involves technical, aesthetic and functional criteria. As in traditional architecture, the focus is on the user and on user requirements. This requires particular attention to web content, the business plan, usability, interaction design, information architecture and web design. It also includes deciding technology stack, site map and navigation system of website. We used the WordPress platform, along with several custom plugins and hard-wired google analytics and custom Search Engine Optimization to aid in its browser functionality.
Clean, clean, clean… clean was the word of focus for this build. We constructed a custom WordPress theme, paying close attention to the branding constants that we focus on with every build. The design has to be visually pleasing, and the navigation had to be effortless. For ID•ON we had to make sure that the aesthetics of the website design, didn’t interfere (or take away from) the focus on their products.
Being an online retailer, it was imperative that ID•ON’s website could be easily viewed on any device. Not only was multi-device capability and important factor, but also the speed in which the site loaded. If your site takes more than a few seconds to completely load, you may lose a sale, as well as tarnish your entire brand. We focused on keeping the design lite, with minimal backend plugins, eliminating any potholes to slow down the site loading process on all devices.
Owning an online store draws on technologies such as mobile commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet marketing, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange (EDI), inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems. A business can fail if their commerce gateway or stock management is faulty, or even-worse; can be compromised by outside sources (hackers). Doing business on a global scale, ID•ON’s payment gateway had to be safe and secure. We used the WooCommerce platform to achieve this, along with eliminating and unused applications or plugins that have third-party access abilities.
What good is launching a website without including an ample amount of optimization? It would be like baking a birthday cake and forgetting the frosting…why bother? For ID•ON’s website we used the power of hardcoding keywords into the structure of the website, as well as utilizing the additional aid of Google Analytics. We employed the use of a few well-managed backend plugins to help increase ID•ON’s site optimization, and showed them ways in which they could use their social media accounts to help drive traffic to their website, thus further increasing their site’s internet footprint.
Your website is a worldwide window into your business and it can have a big impact on how the value of your product or service is perceived. … All businesses need regular website maintenance to attract and retain customers, maintain search engine rankings and present new information, products and services to the public. For ID•ON we tracked their website’s productivity on a daily basis, while making weekly product updates, and updating plugins and platform upgrades.
